On Saturday May 9, 2026, the recomine alliance and the EU Interreg cooperation project recomine SN-CZ-Plus had the opportunity to present themselves to the public at the ‘Future of Raw Materials’ event and showcase the latest research findings from the Eastern Ore Mountains in Altenberg. Direct engagement with the local community highlighted the high level of interest in sustainable raw materials research and the region’s future prospects.

Particularly encouraging was the enthusiasm shown by some of the young visitors for our raw materials quiz. The interest shown by the younger generation in geosciences, technology and innovative research approaches highlights just how important such events are in inspiring young people about science and regional issues of the future.

We would like to extend our special thanks to the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology and the Altenberg Mining Museum for the brilliant organisation of the event.
