Success for recomine in the BHP Tailings Challenge

With its approach to processing Chilean mining waste, our recomine team made it into the next round (concept development phase) of the BHP Tailings Challenge among the ten best teams. The three-stage innovation competition calls on the participating teams to develop concepts with which residues from copper mining can be significantly reduced. The aim is to reduce the volume of copper waste in the future. The recomine approach is one of ten selected out of 153 global proposals that were submitted in summer 2020. After the opening presentation (Demo Day) on January 19, 2021, BHP will now provide tailings material for experiments in order to test the approach. In the summer of 2021, the teams will submit their test evidence and BHP will select three winning teams for the final phase.
