EMerald Stundents Visit at Helmholtz-Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology
🎓recomine-alliance and the Helmholtz-Institut Freiberg für Ressourcentechnologie (HIF) were delighted to welcome the next students cohort of the EMerald Master in Georesources Engineering in Freiberg. After the informative presentations on the Helmholtz-Institut Freiberg für Ressourcentechnologie (HIF) at HZDR from Dr. Sandra Birtel and from Philipp Büttner on recomine, as well as a great transfer seminar, held by Dr. Jonathan Engelhardt from the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), the students enjoyed a short HIF-tour and visited the exhibition of the recomine-project LLV Muldenhütten “Good for Freiberg?!” in the terra mineralia and then took a tour to the historical smelting complex Muldenhütten, a part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
⚒️The next two days were full of exploring the mining heritage of the Erzgebirge/Krušné hory in Altenberg and Zinnwald, visiting the Altenberg visitor mine (Besucherbergwerk Altenberg, Pinge, Erzwäsche Museum) and Zinnwald Lithium GmbH. Many thanks to Thomas Dittrich for the company tour!
⚒️In Jáchymov, the students had a rare opportunity to visit Svornost (Einigkeit) mine, the oldest uranium mine in the world, and the Štola č. 1 mine. Svornost is the oldest operating mine in the Central Europe that pumps mine water💧 for the Jáchymov spa🛁.
💡We very much enjoyed hosting the EMerald students! We wish you all the best with your studies and hope to see you in Freiberg and at HIF again soon!
👏🏻 Special thanks to the Acatrain e.V. and the TU Bergakademie Freiberg for providing such an opportunity.
