ReMining 2025 – Highlights of the Conference

2.09.2025

It was a great pleasure to host the ReMining2025 conference at the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology from the 27th to 29th of August 2025 in Freiberg.

The ReMining2025 conference offered two varied days full of exciting keynotes and specialist presentations. The contributions were divided into five thematic sessions: Analytics, Tailings, Society & Politics, Technology Transfer and Recycling.

Experts from science, industry and civil society discussed current challenges, innovative technologies and solutions for a sustainable raw materials transition. We would like to thank all speakers, partners and participants for their commitment and look forward to further exchange!

On the third day of ReMining2025, participants had the opportunity to visit various recomine development sites – including Ehrenfriedersdorf, Davidschacht Tailing and Hammerberg Tailing – as well as taking part in the interactive simulation game “Bergbau im Nebelwald?”, organized by our colleagues from the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ). Many thanks to Dr. Henriette Rutjes and Dr. Diana Ayeh for this great initiative!
