GeRohTrans
Social involvement in raw materials research in the Ore Mountains: transdisciplinary cooperation and global responsibility
Time span
From 01.01.2024 to 31.12.2025
Abbreviation
GeRohTrans
Project type
Social involvement in raw materials research
GeRohTrans investigates aspects of the temporality of social participation in raw materials projects. In the course of transdisciplinary raw materials research in the Ore Mountains, technologies and concepts are currently being developed for the rehabilitation of old mining legacies while simultaneously extracting raw materials. Based on the Bielatalhalde development site near Altenberg (Saxony, Germany), GeRohTrans analyzes the concerns and knowledge levels of the actors involved with regard to participation and temporality. With the help of qualitative social research methods (e.g. guided expert interviews, participant observation), data for the systematization of interactions and conflict situations are collected and analysed in WP 1. On this basis, transdisciplinary participation formats with a focus on temporality will be developed and tested together with the associated partners Beak Consultants GmbH and Ayni e.V. (WP2). Finally, the project will develop conceptual contributions to the temporal dimensions of transdisciplinary research as well as project-specific and cross-site recommendations for action for social integration (WP3).
WP1 is currently being worked on. The empirical data collection includes a literature review on the temporality of conflicts and social participation, guideline-based expert interviews and participant observation.
On the basis of the methodology developed in Start Project 3 methodological toolkitGeRohTrans will develop recommendations for action for time-adapted participation formats. These will be adapted to specific projects (especially in terms of time) and can also be used across different locations.
